April 2023 Monthly Update
Dear Friends and Partners,
We are well into the fiscal legislative session and things are moving rapidly! Here are some highlights:
Last week, the House Appropriations received public comment for HB 1 (Representative Zeringue), $200 million appropriation for child care assistance to ensure 16,000 seats are preserved and an additional $115 million to expand access to 9,000 more children. Watch our partners’ public comments.
Next week, we are co-hosting Early Ed Day at the Capitol and I hope you can join us on Monday, May 1st from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm at the Louisiana State Capitol. Early Ed Day at the Capitol is an advocacy day for business leaders, chambers of commerce, United Ways, advocacy organizations, early care and education professionals, and parents to educate policymakers about the importance of improving policies and increasing investment in quality early care and education for children birth through age four in Louisiana. Please register for Early Ed Day at the Capitol by tomorrow!
Thank you for advocating on behalf of young children and families in Louisiana, because in order for us to geaux far, we must geaux together.
