September 2022 Monthly Update
Dear Friends and Partners,
September has kept us busy! Our team recently held our annual retreat to reflect on our past year’s successes and plan for the upcoming year. We are very excited for everything we will continue to accomplish on behalf of Louisiana’s young children, and thank you for your continuing support of our mission!
Last week, the Louisiana Policy Institute for Children and the United Way of Southeast Louisiana co-hosted our annual legislative champions event. The champions honored are individuals dedicated to creating a stronger community to support the success of children and their futures through smart, bipartisan policy. We are thankful for their efforts and appreciate their advocacy for Louisiana’s youngest learners.
In addition, Save the Children Action Network invited me to help kick off the 2022 Advocacy Summit where I delved into the business case for early care and education as well as the importance of advocating for our Louisiana babies. This annual advocacy summit is a three-day event with dynamic sessions and speakers where participants learn how to become advocates for kids.
Alongside our community partners, Agenda for Children, Louisiana Departments of Health and Education, Louisiana Partnership for Children and Families, and Geaux Far Louisiana, we represented Louisiana at the National Prenatal to 3 Systems Building meeting hosted by the Build Initiative’s Prenatal to Three Capacity Building Hub in Baltimore this month. This collective group has impacted the lives of over 1 million children nationwide and we are proud to be part of this work that will continue to help Louisiana babies geaux far.
Finally, the Children’s Funding Project partnered with a number of child advocacy organizations across Louisiana, including the Louisiana Policy Institute for Children, to create a case study on how state and local policymakers and advocates are working together to increase financial investments and available quality child care in the state’s early care and education network.
