Louisiana Policy Institute for Children Releases Parent Poll Survey

Louisiana Policy Institute for Children Releases Parent Poll Survey

Geometric Background Pattern

Responses collected from parents and caregivers will help shape advocacy work going into 2022

NEW ORLEANS (October 20, 2021) —The Louisiana Policy Institute for Children (LPIC), the Louisiana Department of Education, and Agenda for Children, are soliciting responses for the 2021 Louisiana Child Care Parent Poll Survey. From October 20 through November 3, 2021, parents, guardians and caregivers in Louisiana with children under age five are encouraged to complete the online survey which asks about their experiences with child care.

“As the state recovers from COVID-19 and Hurricane Ida, it is more important than ever that parents have a safe, quality environment in which to leave their children while they work, look for new work, go to school, or deal with the aftermath of a disaster.” said Dr. Libbie Sonnier, Ph.D., executive director of LPIC. Through this survey, LPIC will be better equipped to understand and advocate for the child care needs of families with young children across the state.”

The Louisiana Policy Institute for Children is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that advocates for the best interests of Louisiana’s young children on a local and federal level. LPIC’s advocacy work is largely informed by data and research compiled through efforts such as the Louisiana Child Care Parent Poll Survey.

“We want to capture important data that centers the voices of parents to help state leaders better understand the issues that they’re facing,” said Dr. Jenna Chaisson, Ph.D., assistant superintendent, office of teaching and learning at the Louisiana Department of Education. “We hope as many parents with young children can share their stories about their experiences with child care by taking this survey.”

The survey takes less than 15 minutes to complete. Responses will be kept confidential, and participants can answer the survey anonymously. The survey is accessible online at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/377NTJ3.
